Celebrating Pride Month and the LGBTQ+ Community

This June, Vibrant Brands proudly celebrated all things LGBTQ+ and the people who make our community a vibrant place to live, work, and thrive. We kicked off Pride month by sponsoring and volunteering for the Pride Center of the Capital Region’s Annual Parade Festival on June 12 at Washington Park in Albany, NY. We also donated to In Our Own Voices, an organization serving the needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people of color in the Capital Region.

Awareness and acceptance of LGBTQ+ individuals is something that holds close to our staff. Talia Cass, a copywriter at Vibrant, choose to support the Pride Center and In Our Own Voices as part of our $20k for 20 Years initiative because of the impact the organizations have on the LGBTQ+ community.

“I believe it’s important to work for a company that’s committed to helping support LGBTQ+ people and those who experience discrimination based on sexuality, gender identity, and race,” Talia says. “These organizations both offer crucial services like advocacy, counseling, support groups, and more, which are all essential to the LGBTQ+ community.”

According to the New York State Department of Health, 8% of New York adults identify as LGBTQ+, and those within the community face increased health challenges including access to health care providers, mental distress, depressive disorders, and substance abuse. Organizations like the Pride Center and In Our Own Voices work to eliminate these barriers and provide resources and services to those who need them.

Our support for In Our Own Voices and the Pride Center of the Capital Region is part of our $20k for 20 Years initiative. To celebrate a successful 20 years in business, we’re giving back to organizations that matter to us. Stay tuned to see more causes we’re supporting throughout the year!
